Georgia Tech Is Declaring “Let’s Go Bitches, the Smart Ones Can Fight To”

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on August 12, 2007

Remember this nasty scene? Well Chan Gailey is taking steps in order to save the Yellow Jackets from an ass whipping from other ACC teams unlike the Lame no Shame Gamecocks, by introducing The George Tech Fight Club.

“It’s bad news all around when a starting quarterback tosses a starting defensive end to the ground on the last play of an intrasquad scrimmage.

It’s worse when at least a dozen players jump into the dispute.”

What the hell? You know the first rule about Fight Club is “No talking about Fight Club!”, I’m pretty sure writing about it is the same as talking about it. Sounds like that QB can kick some ass to me.

“Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey was less than pleased to see his quarterback, Taylor Bennett, involved in contact following his only interception in Saturday’s full-pads scrimmage at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Gailey was even more upset to see the resulting altercation escalate into a short-lived melee involving as many as 15 to 20 players.”

Well, I can’t blame Chan Gailey there, but I’m sure he’s ashamed that the toughest man on field is the QB. That’s like saying the field goal kicker is über-tough. Wow 15 to 20 thugs players, who the hell do they think they are Miami or USC?

“Offensive players were upset Bennett — who was wearing a green jersey, signifying no contact — was blocked by safety Joe Gaston on cornerback Avery Roberson’s return of an interception. Defensive players had their pride stung when Bennett then threw down defensive end Darrell Robertson, a 6-foot-5, 245-pound senior.

Gailey said the volatile side of Bennett has surfaced before. The coach said the competitive side of the junior is a strength that must be kept in check. Bennett was not supposed to be involved in contact during the play, much less after the play. He looked more like a linebacker than a quarterback when he took on Robertson.

“That’s a fine line,” Gailey said. “Do you tell a guy not to compete? I have a hard time with that. Do I tell a guy to compete but be smart? Yeah, you know we’ll tell him that. “

Sounds like Bennett needs to forget football and join the UFC. Then well just see how tough he is! This is Georgia Tech fir God’s sake. Aren’t these supposed to be the smarter ones? I expect this out of USC the school Spurrier wants to dumb down but can’t, but not from Ga. Tech.

“Even though you’re wearing a green jersey, it’s tough,” Bennett said. “You can’t ask defenders to stop. I told Joe Gaston ‘Stop, stop, stop’ and put my hand out.”

Well smarter or not, tough as a Miami linebacker on crack, he still sounds like a little whiner there.
