Back in the beginning of August, Steve God Spurrier whined like a little girl on TV about two retards who would have started recruits that were denied admission to USC because the school felt they were dumber than Jerrell Powe. Naturally God Spurrier threatened to quit if such things continue. Of course USC responded promptly telling God Spurrier to suck it, not once but twice. Well, yesterday USC decided to clarify it’s guidelines on thugs who can’t spell special admits.
‘The University of South Carolina has come up with a policy on special admits designed to streamline a process that head football coach Steve Spurrier lashed out at in early August after two recruits weren’t admitted despite meeting NCAA standards.
The changes were approved last week by USC President Andrew Sorensen, Provost Mark Becker said today. USC has annually allowed up to 100 special admits — students with special talents, including athletes but also musicians and others in the arts, who don’t meet its general admission standards.
Slightly more than half of USC’s special admits are athletes each year, school spokesman Russ McKinney said.
The changes in the special admissions process include:
An academic floor. All special admit candidates must have at least a 2.0 final high school grade point average and a minimum SAT score of 710 or ACT of 15. Becker said Spurrier hasn’t been recruiting below this level.
But, Becker added, this is “basically saying don’t even consider sending anyone forward below (these numbers). That doesn’t mean that’s the admission standard.”
Let’s see a 2.0 GPA…that’s pathetic in it’s own right, but that is the NCAA standard, however 710 on the SAT? The national average is 1026, and don’t you get a 500 for writing your name correctly? ACT of 15? The national average is 21.2. Bold stand by Becker telling the coaches not to bring anyone forward who doesn’t meet those numbers. I don’t think there are that many people stupid enough not to make lower scores than that. Even Jerrell Powe, who the NCAA has denied eligibility too 3 times, states in an interview that he made those numbers.

Oh yeah that’s classy…
“We’re going down to the floor of the NCAA’s bottom level. This is not a big problem for us,” he said. “The overwhelming majority of all of our special admissions are comfortably above 710 and above a 2.0 GPA.”
I’m sure a regular student who is there to actually learn will appreciate that remark, after all the standards for them are considerably higher. So if any parents are reading this and their kid is mildly retarded quickly teach them how to tackle, punt, pass or throw then college at USC will be paid for.
“This is not punitive,” Becker said. “The university is going to help you be as successful as you can be.”
Athletes must apply for admission to USC within two weeks of signing national letters of intent.
“The relationship here is not an adversarial one between academics and athletics,” Becker said. “Everybody’s looking at the same thing. We want the coaches to be able to recruit, students to be able to be successful in the classroom as well as in competition.”
I would say that isn’t punitive. Hell, with academic standards this low, half the recruits will not know what that word means. Just what classes can these Rhode Scholars of the gridiron take that they can be successful at? Coloring 101 or Shoots and Ladders? The bottom line is you’ve dumbed down the educational requirements because God Spurrier wanted you to. Just because the NCAA has a set of standards doesn’t mean you have to lower yours. Majority of the schools don’t. Do you think that having dumber players will help curb the constant disciplinary problems? I’m betting those will sky rocket. Just what the Richland County Detention Center needs, more USC athletes to stupid to know why they’ve been arrested.

So I profess on this day 10/10/07.
