West Virginia: Rich Betta Have My Money (part 2)

Posted by Joel on January 16, 2008

Well the WVU lawsuit v. He Who Shall Not Be Named may be going to federal court. We discussed here earlier that West Virginia filed a lawsuit against Rodriguez to ensure that they get the $4 million that is owed to them as part of the last contract that he signed. The lawsuit may be moved to federal court since Rodriguez now collects Michigan money.

“We’re perfectly comfortable and happy to litigate this case in any court,” said Thomas Flaherty, a Charleston attorney representing WVU. “This is not unanticipated.”

A quick look at Thomas Flaherty’s resume, and this guy apparently knows what he is doing. His resume reads like a novel, and his profile on Martindale gives him a very high rating. He is a West Virginia alum and one would think that he is gonna come after Rodriguez with guns blazing. I would say that the Mountaineers have a hammer on their side…

Rodriguez has a massive legal team on his side, led by Marvin Robon, based out of Ohio. His resume is just as impressive, once being involved in several high profile cases in Ohio and also attending international conferences, such as the 1990 Moscow Conference on Trade and Economic Law in the Soviet Union. He is also highly rated according to the Martindale website, which means that it is about to get ugly…

Well, it is about to get ugly. Rodriguez has apparently dug his heels in the dirt and so has West Virginia. Both sides have hammers for lawyers and both sides are about to spend a fortune in legal fees. It seems to me that he needs to pay the money. Michigan needs to make him pay the money; the school has plenty of boosters to pay the money for him. This is almost getting old…almost, but I am sure this pissing match will result in dirty laundry being aired out. When the dirty laundry is aired, it will be a pyrrhic victory to the victor…except for us bloggers so we can have plenty to laugh and write about…

Pacman Jones & O.J. Simpson Have Caused Me to Break Another New Years Resolution

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on January 16, 2008

This year I made five resolutions and thanks to Pacman Jones and O.J. Simpson I have now broken three of them. Here’s a breakdown of what the resolutions were.

  1. Exercise more- Yeah right it’s not broken I just haven’t started it.
  2. Stop smoking- Again it’s not broken I just haven’t started it.
  3. Don’t eat week old sushi- I’m going strong on that one (so far)
  4. Don’t throw unopened jars of baby food at midgets- had a close call last Saturday afternoon when I saw my first midget of the year while standing in the parking lot of a Mexican restaurant. I really wanted to hurl some Gerbers but I resisted.
  5. Don’t make fun of Pacman Jones & O.J. Simpson because they’ve made some mistakes- Well, after today I’m throwing that one out the widow.

As we all know Pacman Jones is working hard to change his life and impress Roger Goodell enough to get back into the league. He went ahead and took the plea bargain the prosecutors in Vegas were offering him but we all know he’s truly innocent. (Written with sarcasm)

This is the new Pacman, new haircut. Same entourage.

Until Tuesday people might have thought different of him, like he was actually maturing. Of course those people still believe in Santa Claus so let me burst that bubble for them while I’m at it. I killed Santa and Pacman Jones is not only still going to strip clubs now he’s sucker punching female attorneys that happen to be there.

“A woman is seeking an arrest warrant against suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones, claiming he punched her at an Atlanta strip club.

Fulton County Magistrate Court officials told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Wanda S. Jackson asked for the warrant after a Jan. 3 altercation at the Body Tap Strip Club.

Jackson, an attorney, says in her filing that she was in the club’s office when an angry Jones accused managers of stealing his money and bracelet.

“I was sitting in the office and he lunged at me numerous times in an effort to do grave bodily harm,” Jackson wrote in the warrant application filed Jan. 7. “Veronica Jones, an owner, went into the hall to deal with a member of his entourage. I followed to gawk. He was in the hall, surprisingly reached over or around a security guard and sucker punched me in my left eye.”

Jackson did not immediately return a phone message requesting comment. Jones’ attorney Manny Arora said no warrant has been issued against his client.

Norris Arnold, a court support manager for Fulton County, said a magistrate judge will review Jackson‘s application on Feb. 8 to determine whether the warrant will be filed.

WSB-TV in Atlanta reported that Jackson said she was in the strip club because of a divorce case she is handling.”

“Grave bodily harm” I love it. The first question I have why can’t an attorney come up with a better excuse as for as the reasons for being in the strip club than “because of a divorce case.” What is she a private eye? Oh wait let me guess, she’s not only a lawyer but she’s also working there on the side to help pay off law school loans. If that’s the case the first thing that strippers should be taught is not to gawk at Pacman Jones because he’ll put your eye out. Make it rain Pacman!

Now moving on from one train wreck to another.

Did you know that O.J. Simpson is back in jail? Yep, it’s true. Apparently when the judge at his last bond hearing told him not contact anyone relating to the current pending case against him, he missed the part about instructing others to contact them on his behalf is still considered the same as contacting them himself.

“O.J. Simpson was in jail Saturday, accused of violating terms of his bail in an armed robbery case, after a bondsman told authorities the former football star tried to get him to pass a message to a co-defendant. Simpson is awaiting a 9 a.m. Wednesday court hearing, when prosecutors plan to request that Simpson’s bail be revoked and he be kept in jail until the trial, set for April.

Simpson, 60, arrived in Las Vegas on Friday on a commercial flight from Florida with his North Las Vegas-based bail bondsman, Miguel Pereira. He was taken in handcuffs by a police escort to the Clark County Detention Center.

Pereira, of You Ring We Spring, said he was unhappy because he had not been paid for handling Simpson’s bail. Pereira added he gave prosecutors the message Simpson wanted him to take to a co-defendant because he didn’t want to face criminal charges.

“He left a message instructing me to do something violating a court order,” the bondsman told The Associated Press after escorting Simpson from his home in Miami. “I don’t want to get involved in such a dilemma or a criminal act.”

Oh O.J. when will you ever learn? What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. You Ring We Spring now that sounds classy. Maybe the University of South Carolina Gamecocks should make them the new official bail bonds man. If sounds a lot better than the one they’re using now, “Sho’Nuff Bail Bonds.”

Of course the attorneys for Simpson are denying that anything like that ever happened, because if they didn’t then Pacman Jones would dot their eyes as well. O.J.’s getting to old for that, with arthritis and all.

“District Attorney David Roger, in a motion filed Friday in Clark County District Court, alleges that the tape-recorded message Simpson left for Pereira on Nov. 16 was an effort to contact co-defendant Clarence “C.J.” Stewart, which violated a court order.

“I just want, want C.J. to know that … I’m tired of this [expletive],” Simpson is quoted in the documents as saying on the taped message. “Fed up with [expletives] changing what they told me. All right?”

Pereira confirmed that Simpson left the message, in which he expressed frustration at testimony during a three-day preliminary hearing in November.”

Wow, yet another tape of Simpson one would think he would learn not to leave messages. What a moron.

“Galanter said he believed the “new crimes” referred to allegations of witness tampering. He called Pereira a member of Simpson’s defense team, and said he was “totally miffed” by the effort to use a tape of a permissible phone call to try to revoke Simpson’s bail.

“He was clearly voicing frustration to a member of the defense team who had been providing security, transportation and investigation services,” Galanter said.

Pereira said he provided security and transportation, and that Simpson stayed at his home during the preliminary hearing. But he said he and his business, You Ring We Spring bail bonds, were not part of Simpson’s legal team.

“I’m a separate entity,” he said. “Whenever they go into their attorney-client thing, I step out of the room. I’m not an investigator, nor am I hired or paid by their defense team.”

Pereira said he was upset that Simpson never paid him the $18,750 he was due for posting Simpson’s bail.

“I’m in the bag for plane tickets, car rental down in Florida, even the $40 filing fee at the jail,” he said.”

Man, not only does O.J. have a powerful (if you call the fact he takes 2 for 1 coupons powerful) attorney but his legal team consists of his very own whiney bonds man. If this attorney kidding me? Now I’m not a lawyer but common sense tells me that the bail bonds man isn’t apart of the legal team. If this is the best attorney O.J. can find then he’s fucked. (Yay!)

Marion Jones told the feds a fib and got six months in prison to commence ASAP. O.J. murdered two people, lied to the world, and was found not guilty by a jury of imbeciles. Not until Simpson tried to show the world that he was more important than his terms of probation did the law finally begin to put him in his place. With any luck at all he will be imprisoned until his trial and then be given a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Told you I killed him and the Easter Bunny is next!!

This I proclaim on 1/16/08.
