Writers Wanted
If you would like to be a writer for this blog, guest blogger or have an opposing view point in the form of a story to balance things out, e-mail it in. And yes you can make fun of Tennessee.
It’s always nice to see opposing fans come to an understanding about something and unite as one. In this case fans from both the White Sox and Cubs untied to shut up a mouthy fan wearing a black t-shirt and jorts. Look at what the security guard does to him as he is leading him away from the scene.
The Red Sox and MLB have sent security teams to St. Petersburg, Fla., for the next three days due to a recent threat made against the club’s players.
According to the Boston Herald, the Sox recently received a mailed threat, postmarked in Memphis, Tenn., which targeted black and Latin players, calling out at least two by name. The players have been informed about the threats and will likely have security accompaniment away from Tropicana Field.
The Sox are sending at two of their top security officials, Patrick “Kiss me I’m drunk” Flanagan & Liam “Kiss me I’m drunker and the Yankees Suck” O’Connor while another security team is due from MLB’s office in New York. Yeah MLB can’t prove anything against Bonds and yet they think the players should be safe with their security team. The FBI and police departments in St. Petersburg, Boston, Memphis and Baltimore have been brought up to speed of the threats, which are a federal crime. Unless you’re Albert Bell then it’s a super secret double probation felony.
According to the Herald, law-enforcement authorities have been looking for a suspect believed to be from Baltimore but living in the Memphis area. As of when I’m typing this, he is not in custody yet. Of course he could getting arrested right now as far as I know but I’m not posting this until Tuesday so there!
The threat is believed to be totally unrelated to the recent tensions between the Sox and Rays, who play for the first time since their brawl about 4 guys jumped on Coca Crisp who whipped some Tampa ass at Fenway Parkon June 5. There was to be no added security visible with the team this weekend at Minute Maid Park.
Sox general manager Theo “Hey Mr Kotter” Epstein declined comment on the matter. MLB vice president for public relations Patrick Courtney also clammed up while citing baseball’s policy against discussing security issues.
Now my theory is that the whole business about the suspect being from Baltimore is a ruse. I believe authorities are indeed looking for someone in the Memphis area though. Which Leads me to believe that they are looking for this guy.
He actually was standing up for Adam “Make it Rain” Jones. Don’t believe me? Lets hear it from the man himself
“What people should be outraged about is that they arrest blacks for no reason”.
“I mean, there’s no reason to arrest this kid six times. Maybe he did something once, but everyone does something once.”
Imus said that he was simply using his platform as a radio host to speak out against racism and foster race relations. He also reminded anyone who would listen that he now has more blacks on his show than ever before. He now has a mindboggling number of black people; a grand total of 3 ( a producer and 2 co-hosts). 3 black people? The place is literally crawling with black folks!!
So here is to you sir. Defender of the defenseless and protector of black people; Don Imus.
